Rain Once Again Postpones Activities At Old Dominion Speedway ..May 10, 2003
For the second week in 2003, rain has halted all activities
at the Old Dominion Speedway in Manassas, VA. The forecasters predicted that a heavy storm
that ripped through the North Central portion of the country would arrive in the Eastern
US over the weekend, and it turned out that they were correct. Heavy skies, overcast
conditions, and heavy rain forced track promoters to cancel all activities. Scheduled
events included the first 200 lap NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series event for the Late Models. It
would have been the first test of the newest Goodyear compound that will be used for the
remainder of the season. The compound is a bit harder than the tires that were used
earlier in the year. Also on the agenda was a 50 lap Redman Fleet Service Grand Stock
feature, a 30 lap Mini Stock feature, and a 25 lap Gaston Automotive Speedway Sportsman
feature. The Baby Grands, the high speed scale model of a Late Model Stock Car, were also
scheduled for an appearance at ODS as well.
As of this time, next Saturday night's activities have not yet been determined.
