Max Speed, the official mascot of Old Dominion Speedway made his first appearance on Saturday, May 29, 2004 as part of Old Dominion Speedway’s salute to the U.S. Armed Forces.
The event kicked off with Max Speed being driven onto the track in his specially prepared hot rod driven by track owner Steve Britt (see images below.) Max made his way through the infield and around the facility to greet fans and get the racing action started.
The event also featured a pre-race concert by the Marshal Tucker Band and an exciting night of racing including the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge.
